David Zittlow has been selected to serve as information technology services manager for the City of Fond du Lac. Zittlow has been serving in that position in an interim capacity since early February and will now take on the job permanently, City Manager Tom Herre said Friday. Zittlow has been employed with the city Police Department since 1997. He has served in many capacities as a police officer and since 2006 as the Police Department's computer forensic specialist and high technology crime investigator, Herre said. "Dave Zittlow has auditioned for this job under the most trying and intense of circumstances," said Herre in a news release. "He volunteered to help out immediately after the discovery of wrongdoing by former MIS employees, and he has now provided solid and conscientious leadership and displayed practical, in-depth technical knowledge for an extended period. "He knows our systems, has the confidence of city staff and has the creative vision to move us forward technologically." Zittlow is a graduate of Marian University and has attended an array of information technology courses during his career with the Police Department. Herre said Zittlow was selected from a field of more than 30 applicants and will begin his duties immediately. Zittlow will report directly to Herre.
