Open Book - August 24

2026 Notice of Reassessment Letters were mailed to residents at the beginning of the month from the Town Assessor, Bowmar Appraisal.  

The letter included the updated assessed property values based on the 2026 Revaluation the town was required to complete.

The letter (on blue paper) included helpful information to understand the updated values.  Bowmar explained that a revaluation redistributes the existing tax levy based on current home values, it does not increase tax revenue collected.  The letter stated that an increase in assessed value does not automatically indicate an increase in taxes.  If your assessment incrase is around the town average of 65%, your property taxes will be aobut the same as last year.  [refer to the letter for additional information]
