Governor Doyle Signs Two Bills into Law

Senate Bill 126 renews the Environmental Results Program, now known as
the Green Tier Program.
The Green Tier Program is an innovative environmental regulation
system administered by the Department of Natural Resources that is
based on collaboration between regulators and
environmentally responsible businesses.

“The Green Tier Program is an integral part of my efforts to make
Wisconsin a national clean energy
leader,” Governor Doyle said. “By renewing this program, the state is
committing to streamlining
regulation and encouraging innovation and smart management practices.
The innovative Green Tier
program will continue to serve as a national model for responsible
management, collaboration and development.”

SB 126 also renews the Environmental Improvement Program, now called
the Environmental
Compliance Audit Program. The bill also makes small changes and
updates to both programs to
ensure their effectiveness.

Governor Doyle thanked Senators Miller and Kedzie, and Representatives
Clark and Tauchen for their work on the bill.

Senate Bill 216 makes consistent the regulation of professional
employer organizations or professional employers. The bill requires
professional employer services to register with the state Department
of Regulation and Licensing, and aligns registration renewal dates
with the department’s July 31 credential deadline.

Governor Doyle thanked Senator Wirch, and Representatives Hilgenberg
and Newcomer for their work on the bill.
