June 2, 2014 Highway 49 detour route changes

A detour route has changed for a road project on Highway 49 in Fond du
Lac County.

The change is necessary because the start date for the WisDOT project
moved up and the original detour route conflicts with county road
construction occurring at the same time, according to a Wisconsin
Department of Transportation press release.

This project, now scheduled to begin in late June or early July, will
resurface approximately 7.3 miles of Highway 49 from Highway MMM
(County Park Road) in Waupun to Clark Street just south of Brandon.
During construction, the railroad crossing south of Brandon will also
be replaced and updated.

For most of the project, the road will remain open with lane closures
and flagging operations. It will be closed and detoured for 20 working
days to allow for the railroad crossing to be repaired, according to a
DOT press release.

During this closure the signed detour route will be northbound Highway
151 to Highway 26 to Highway 23 to Highway 49. Southbound would be the
reverse. WisDOT had announced the previous detour as County M and
County T.

WisDOT will be announcing a construction start date in the next few
weeks.
