September 23, 2009 New Fond du Lac County Treasurer Sought

The Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors will appoint a successor
to Fond du Lac County Treasurer Judeen Damm at the board’s special
October 20, 2009, County Board meeting.

The appointment is for the balance of a four-year term, which expires
January 7, 2013. Damm is resigning her position effective October 30,
2009.

In order to be eligible to serve as county treasurer, one must be a
qualified elector of Fond du Lac County.

Responsibilities of the treasurer’s position are to receipt, disburse
and account for all monies received from taxpayers and government
agencies, including Fond du Lac County municipalities and school
districts, as well as the Wisconsin State Department of Revenue;
administer and maintain the Ag Use Penalty, Lottery Credit, Unclaimed
County Funds and In Rem Tax Foreclosure records according to state
statutes; and invest all available county funds, while maintaining
security and achieving maximum returns within guidelines set by the
county investment policy and state statutes.

Preference will be given to candidates with a proven financial
background.
